Tourism

The activity of traveling for pleasure.

The gardens of a vanished royal palace: the Army Museum that left for Toledo, the Crystal Palace closed until 2027, the Fallen Angel folklore, and why the park now shuts in bad weather.

Spain's twentieth-century art and Guernica: how the painting reached Madrid, the three Picassos that are not here at all, the Nouvel extension, and the Tuesday closure.

The collection that fills the gaps the Prado and Reina Sofia leave, how Spain came to own it, the Cassirer restitution case still before the courts, and where the Barcelona pictures went.

The royal collection of the kings of Spain: where the pictures came from, Las Meninas, Goya's Black Paintings, the extension that opened in 2007, and the free evening window.

Madrid practicalities: the heat that now decides when to go, the airport and transport tickets, the low-emission zones and the trap for a foreign car, and what has arrived since.

A joint venture in which the Hong Kong government holds 52 per cent against the Walt Disney Company's 48, which makes it unlike any other Disney resort. Eight lands now, with Autopia and Stitch Encounter gone and Space Mountain rethemed. The option on the second site expired in September 2020, so expansion is confined to the existing resort.

The Jade Market moved from Kansu Street to 251 Shanghai Street in November 2020. The New Territories lease ran 99 years, not 100, from a convention signed on 9 June 1898. And the useful protection is official: the tourist board's accreditation scheme, the Consumer Council's complaints route for visitors, and the Trade Descriptions Ordinance.

The 1,540-hectare Ramsar site is managed by the government's conservation department, while WWF-Hong Kong manages the 380-hectare reserve inside it. About 460 bird species have been recorded. Since 24 July 2026 the police closed-area permit is no longer required, though a conservation department permit still is.

The clock tower is the Former Kowloon-Canton Railway Clock Tower of 1915, not the Victoria Clock Tower; the harbour's fairways are maintained at about 11 m, so it is not among the deepest anywhere; and the service moved to Central Pier No. 7 on 12 November 2006. It has been loss-making for most of the past decade, with a fare increase due on 25 January 2027.

Found in 1955 during work on a resettlement estate, the tomb has four chambers in a cross and is dated by the museum to the Eastern Han. Its bricks name Panyu county, not a province. Fifty-eight objects were recovered and no human remains. Declared a monument in 1988; the interior is closed and seen through glass.

The Hong Kong Story exhibition that older accounts describe closed on 19 October 2020. Its replacement, also called Hong Kong Story, opened on 1 April 2026 with ten galleries, over 2,800 exhibits and four stated themes. Admission is free and the museum closes on Tuesdays.
