There are working tours, such as those of a music group journeying from town to town to perform in live vents and fulfill other engagements; and there are leisure tours, when people travel from place to place for pleasure just to see what it is around.
And for leisure tours, one can consider brief trips through a place or building, such as a museum or art gallery, a castle, or a town square, in order to view them; and there are long, organized trips to visit a series of interesting places, probably of historic or artistic interest, often with a guide.
It is not only places of cultural, historic, or artistic interest the ones that capture the attention of the modern traveler. More informal tours to visit a plant, a working, farm, a wine estate, or a factory, even the sewers in famous cities, are very popular today.
