Swimming Fun
Swimming is surely fun. However, before you take the kids splashing into the water there are a few thing to consider.
Adult supervision - All children should be supervised by an adult when swimming, even if they can swim. Don't let your kid go on a swimming excursion with friends without being sure who will be the adult in charge.
A child can drown in a puddle - Children can drown in just 1.5 inches of water, seeing to their water safety is important, therefore the need for adult supervision. Keep your child within arms reach when swimming, an adult should be in the water as well as someone watching.
Help them float - Children that do not know how to swim should have certified flotation devices at all times. This way, they can join in the fun while being safe.
Swimming lessons - Beginners or already swimming a little, swim lessons are a great summer activity for kids ages 4 to 100! Who knows? May be there is the next Olympic champion.
Swim wear - Choose appropriate swim wear for your child, not bulky clothes that will weigh them down.
Sun protection - Use waterproof sunblock while swimming, no one wants sunburn this summer and regular sunblocks will wash away in the water, reapply as needed during the day.
Make swimming even more fun - Encourage water games like Marco Polo or Shark, or just play with a beach ball. Water toys are good, but playing in a group is enough for a great day.
They should like it - Don’t force a frightened child to swim, and never throw your child into the water unprepared.
Prevent swummer's ear - Use swimming ear plugs to prevent “swimmer’s ear” infections that are common in children
Other water equipment - Offer up goggles, nose plugs, and anything else that will make your child more confident and comfortable in the water.
