St Patrick's Day Crafts

St. Patrick's Day crafts have the bright green of Irish shamrocks and other Irish topics such as the pot of gold at the end or the rainbow and leprechauns.

  • St. Patrick’s Kid Craft Idea – Pot of Gold. Make a pot shape out of black construction paper. Glue cotton balls along the top of the pot. Then drizzle glue over the cotton balls and cover with white glitter.
  • Patrick’s Kid Craft Idea – Handprint Rainbow. 7 handprints, painted or cut from colored construction paper can be glued together into a rainbow shape.
  • A shamrock shape is easy to make. It’s just a stem and 3 heart shapes with the points facing inward.
  • St. Patrick’s Day Crafting? Add a little fun by sharing sliced green fruits and vegetables. Try kiwi, green apples, celery and green grapes. Use a cookie cutter on the kiwi to create St. Paddy’s Day shapes.
  • Tired of light green icing on St. Patrick’s Day treats? Liquid food coloring doesn’t produce the dark colors that gel coloring does.
  • A toilet paper roll makes a fine leprechaun. Paint it green; make a construction paper hat and boots. Add a face and make a beard from pipe cleaners.
  • Celtic knot work is a great Irish craft for adults or teens. Add it to needlepoint, scrapbook, woodcarving, glass and other projects.
  • Punch a couple of small holes into shamrock foam shapes and use them as beads for necklaces and bracelets. Use green string or yarn for the best effect.
  • Saint Patrick’s Day Wreath: Cut a hole in the middle of a paper plate to make a wreath shape. Color the wreath with a ring of red on the outside, then orange, yellow, green, blue and violet.  Glue paper shamrocks around the wreath to finish the project.
  • Need some gold for the pot at the end of the rainbow? Use gold wrapped Hershey’s kisses or use gold spray paint on some stones.
  • I’m a Leprechaun Foam Photo Frame: Glue a leprechaun hat, some hair and a beard around the frame and insert a child’s photo. Add a shamrock to finish the effect.
  • St. Patrick’s Day Froot Loop Day Rainbow: Cut out a half circle on card stock. Have children glue Froot Loops in the colors of the rainbow.
