Painting

Painting is very creative and it will be even more enjoyable if you take these tips into account.

  • To clean watercolors off paintbrushes, always clean while they’re still wet. Rinse paint of in warm water and then use a little bit of soap to clean them completely.
  • If you don’t have time to wash paintbrushes right away, soak them in water until you can.
  • Acrylic paint dries fast. Only squeeze as much paint as you will use in a short time.
  • Acrylic paints drying out on your palette? Spritz them with a bit of water to keep them fresh.
  • Protect surfaces by laying out newspaper and tape in place to prevent movement while working.
  • To clean finger paint off little fingers, wash with mild soap and warm water.
  • Painted handprints become bird wings or rays shining off a sun or a menorah (just leave one thumb without flame).
  • Craft Idea: Non-slip socks. Create unique designs on white socks with dimensional paint. Make sure to give plenty of time to dry.
  • Paint taking too long to dry? Use a blow dryer on a low setting to speed things up.
  • Use nail polish in your crafting. You can decorate pots, glass, jewelry and more.
  • Masking tape makes it easy to paint straight edges. Whether you want to make a triangle, square or rectangle, place some masking tape on your paper and remove it when you're done.
  • Before temporarily attaching tape to paper, apply the tape to some clothing first to remove some stickiness.
