Painting
Painting is very creative and it will be even more enjoyable if you take these tips into account.
- To clean watercolors off paintbrushes, always clean while they’re still wet. Rinse paint of in warm water and then use a little bit of soap to clean them completely.
- If you don’t have time to wash paintbrushes right away, soak them in water until you can.
- Acrylic paint dries fast. Only squeeze as much paint as you will use in a short time.
- Acrylic paints drying out on your palette? Spritz them with a bit of water to keep them fresh.
- Protect surfaces by laying out newspaper and tape in place to prevent movement while working.
- To clean finger paint off little fingers, wash with mild soap and warm water.
- Painted handprints become bird wings or rays shining off a sun or a menorah (just leave one thumb without flame).
- Craft Idea: Non-slip socks. Create unique designs on white socks with dimensional paint. Make sure to give plenty of time to dry.
- Paint taking too long to dry? Use a blow dryer on a low setting to speed things up.
- Use nail polish in your crafting. You can decorate pots, glass, jewelry and more.
- Masking tape makes it easy to paint straight edges. Whether you want to make a triangle, square or rectangle, place some masking tape on your paper and remove it when you're done.
- Before temporarily attaching tape to paper, apply the tape to some clothing first to remove some stickiness.
- Can’t find enough paintbrushes? Q-tips can do the trick for simple projects.
